School Bus Roadeo

Every school day our buses transport the most precious cargo – our students to and from school. The annual "Bus Roadeo" competition tests driving and safety skills. Congratulations drivers!

Strategic planning is an organizational activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals, establish greement around
intended outcomes/results, and assess and adjust the organization's direction in response to an ever changing environment. A strategic plan should communicate with the organization's goals, the actions needed to achieve those goals
and all of the other critical elements developed during the planning exercise. 



 

Improvement is a continuous process used to ensure that all students are achieving at high levels. All schools can create better environments so that more students are successful. Continuous improvement of schools is essential to providing increased student performance and quality results. Innovative, exemplary, and research-based programs, coupled with professional development, focused and aligned resources, and public participation in planning, are critical factors in schools that demonstrate continuous growth.

The job of the school improvement team is to lead the development of a School Improvement Plan (SIP) that addresses school needs, to monitor the implementation of the plan, and to revise it when appropriate.

 

 

  School district administrators think about how to provide focused, systemic professional learning opportunities to support ongoing growth of all staff resulting in increased student
achievement. Professional learning for educators should address strategic, targeted long term professional learning paths grounded in content. Educators should collaboratively and continuously enhance their knowledge and implementation skills that directly relate to identified student performance needs.
 

A district technology plan should focus on integrating technology into the teaching and learning process to transform the way teachers teach and students learn. At the very least, the technology plan should be embedded in or supplement the district’s comprehensive school improvement plan.

The planning committee is critical to the success of any technology plan. The committee should include expertise in planning, building a vision, needs assessment, curriculum and instruction, evaluation, goal setting, professional development, technology hardware, support and integration, media/marketing, and financial planning.  

 

Why are School Advisory Councils necessary?

Improvement planning is a requirement of federal law.

ESEA, Title I, Sec. 1111 requires that all State Education Agencies have a general improvement plan that addresses the requirements of the law such as academic standards, assessments and accountability.

ESEA, Title I, Sec. 1112 requires that all Local Education
Agencies (LEA) have a general improvement plan that addresses the requirements of the law such as a description of the actions the LEA will take to assist its low achieving schools
identified as in need of improvement. Plans must be periodically reviewed and revised as necessary.

ESEA, Title I, Sec. 1116(a)(3) Federal law requires that the improvement planning team include, at a minimum— Parents, School Staff, District Staff, Outside Experts.
